Discord Sculpture by ChibiSilverWings Discord Sculpture by ChibiSilverWings
This was my take on the sculpture of Discord shown in the series at the start of the Return of Harmony Part 1 in My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic. I was shocked by my results here. This is a larger sculpture than I've ever made before. He stands at about 10 inches tall.

I'm WAS going to auction him off at Anime Central, but didn't, at the very least he was at my table, that didn't end up working out but he was sold and sent to a new home. I'm very proud of him. I don't plan to ever make another, it was a lot of fun and a great challenge but I don't want to make it twice.

I actually finished this in only two days, which astounded me, I never thought I'd be able to do it so fast! Ever since I saw the episode and saw the granite clay that Sculpey makes, I really wanted to try to make something with a mix, I tried to make it look like a white marble or light granite. I can't take great photos of it sadly, I am eager for my photographer friend to move up here to help me with things like that o.o;;

I took some liberties with my design, in the sculpture in the show, he has no spines on his tail and the fluff on his tail wasn't showing in the front, I decided to rest in on the bowl of the fountain to break the clean line and I choose to include the spines. I liked the changes but I didn't feel it made it look too different.

Here's a short video of it where I turn it around and it shows the color well: [link]

This is amazing. I really would like to know what you sold him for. I would think something of that kind of height and materials wouldnt go for less than 100 dollars.

I absolutely love his expression too. Discord is an odd ummm dragon... gryphon... tiger mix thing LOL

I sold him for 80 dollars in the end, I wishI'd have gotten a bit more but ehh I'm happy with it. :D

Thanks! I tried really hard to make it look like the one in the show XD

:O im suprised you went THAT low! Course im sure the whole experience was worth it! And just to say you did it would be a reward in itself (and had pictures to prove it LOL) ((pics of it or it didnt happen XD))

Haha yeah, well I think if it was now, I'd have gone a lot higher, at the time I was still working on my pricing confidence, which takes honestly forever. Nowadays I know that if I stay firmly at a price I'm comfortable with, advertise myself properly and do good work, people will come to me. But at the time I heard so many people scoff at how high I was asking for that I guess I chickened out and asked for less than I'd have wanted. Thankfully I'm basically over that stage now. It was a bad place to be! Now when people say "That's too much" I feel confident saying "Oh well, I'm sorry it's out of your price range." and moving on. It's been going well for me :)
