Oh good lord. I finally started on this mega-complex project witness the start of my Okami chess set! I'm 1/4 of the way, but it's alll uphill from here.
These were the easiest of the pieces and they were still really challenging! I never noticed how different dog breeds facial structures were. I mean I KNEW they were different I just never took notice of what ways.
So this is the Canine Warriors left to right: Gi, Tei, Jin (Ume), Chu (Hayabusa), Rei, Chi, Shin, and Ko
In game these guys sorta annoy me, especially Tei. As for my work here, I HATE how Ko came out and I really like Tei and Rei. The rest I'm mostly happy with, though I have various little hems and haws about color choices and such. The problem with Okami is having so many different color references and trying to make the character look true to my own image of them. AUGH. I hope I succeeded.
I look forward to making more of the set soon, if you're curious what the pieces will look like here's my concept sketches:
Thanks goes to the talented for photo taking and editing.
Oh man, thanks! I love this game too, and I've been side tracked from working on my next pieces of this set for awhile! But I WILL finish it eventually @.@ Slowly but surely. The characters in that game were so strong and memorable despite having very little dialogue, it speaks volumes for the talented people who designed them
